MLC School is a welcoming place, a part of the fabric of Burwood and Sydney’s inner west for nearly 140 years.
MLC School is more than simply a place for girls and young women, it is a central hub in the lives of parents, families, staff members, Old Girls and the wider community through our Learn to Swim program and Chapel services for weddings or funerals. Out of School Hours and Holiday programs extend the care of our girls beyond traditional school times and terms.
Parent Involvement
New students are welcomed through the formal orientation program, but we also place great importance on welcoming new parents, carers, and families. We offer parent information evenings, social occasions, and opportunities to interact with other parents and staff.
When parents and the School work together, learning outcomes improve. There are numerous ways for parents to be involved at MLC School. Weekly events include debates, dance performances, drama productions, music concerts, and sports, as well as art installations and information evenings about immersions and tours. Additionally, there are formal events such as the Careers and Tertiary Expo, House Chapel Services, Speech Day, Sydney Opera House Concert, Music Gala Concert, and Valedictory events. Parents are encouraged to attend these events to support their daughters and actively participate in school life.
The Parents and Friends (P&F) Association and the Parent Ambassadors play an integral role in welcoming new families to the School and connecting them through informal events and gatherings. Parents are also encouraged to be actively involved with the Parents & Friends Committee, which helps them connect with other families and organise key parent-focused events on the School’s calendar.
Old Girls
Our Old Girls keep the MLC School legacy alive by returning and sharing tales of their time at school, and importantly about where their lives have taken them after leaving the School. Key events are held for our Old Girls every year, as well as reunions in milestone years. Old Girls are an important connection for our current girls and their families, providing mentoring and insight into career paths and opportunities.
