Planting Seeds B&B Highway The partnership between MLC School and the Planting Seeds B&B Highway reflects a shared commitment to environmental responsibility, sustainability, and addressing real-world challenges through education. The partnership between MLC School and the Planting Seeds B&B Highway reflects a shared commitment to environmental responsibility, sustainability, and addressing real-world challenges through education. The B&B Highway is a nationally recognised environmental education initiative that supports biodiversity regeneration by creating connected habitats for birds, bees and other pollinators. Through curriculum aligned‑ learning experiences, the program enables students to engage meaningfully with contemporary environmental issues while linking scientific understanding with practical action. Through this partnership, MLC School students are developed as citizen scientists, actively contributing to biodiversity monitoring and data collection using platforms such as iNaturalist and the Atlas of Living Australia. Students engage in hands-on learning including habitat creation, native planting, and ecological monitoring, applying scientific skills in authentic contexts. This approach deepens students’ understanding of environmental systems while strengthening critical thinking, collaboration and problem solving skill. The partnership also strengthens MLC School's role as a community advocate for sustainability and environmental stewardship. By engaging students, staff and the wider community in shared learning and action, the B&B Highway creates opportunities for outreach and long-term impact beyond the school grounds. Students are empowered not only to understand environmental challenges, but to lead positive change within their communities, aligning with MLC School's vision of educating informed, engaged and responsible global citizens.
