Our Brother School

Newington College is regarded as MLC School's ‘brother school’. The two schools shared the same Principal, the Reverend Charles Prescott. Reverend Prescott founded MLC School and was Principal from 1886 to 1889 and then served as Headmaster at Newington College from 1900 to 1931.

Both schools share the values of the Uniting Church. The two schools have many families in common with their daughters at MLC School and their sons at Newington College.

MLC School and Newington College collaborate in many different areas of school life – White Ribbon Day, International Women's Day, Musical Concerts, and School Drama productions.

In July 2019, we were excited to announce a proposed joint cadet program between Newington College and MLC School. This program will increase opportunities for our young men and women to work together on a regular basis. Respect, leadership and character development will be at the core of the program. This significantly builds on MLC School and Newington’s current co-curricular relationship and will mean that hundreds of our students will be involved instead of dozens.
