Taylor Hill (2014)

MLC School Old Girl, Taylor Hill (2014), is paving the way for women in the scenery construction industry.

In a predominantly male-dominated industry, Taylor is paving the way for young women to make a difference and achieve their professional goals in construction.

Taylor worked on a revolving stage for the NIDA production of Fraternal and in December 2017, she became the first female to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Staging) degree.

Scenery construction has traditionally been a pathway for males but there are plenty of employment opportunities women can take advantage of. Taylor discovered the possibilities of building and mechanics at school in her Design and Technology class in Year 11 and Year 12 and a Certificate III in-school VET Entertainment Training Package.

NIDA  published an article about Taylor and her achievements throughout her course, which you can find here.
