MLC OGU President, Former Students' and Current daughters' Christmas Party

In the past, a voluntary life membership charge was payable to the union. However, since 1996, all students leaving MLC have automatically become life members. In the spirit of inclusiveness, the OGU welcomes all former students, who left the school prior to 1996, and who request membership of the union, as full members, free of any charge.

In addition to the twice yearly mailing of the Lucis magazine and the December mailing of the Annual Report, members of the OGU are entitled to request copies of the Excelsior (the annual student magazine).

The OGU Meetings are held during term time commencing at 7.30pm in the MLC Staff Room

Important Events

The aims of the MLC OGU include “fostering and maintaining a close relationship between Old Girls and the School”. We meet this aim by being involved in appropriate School activities and through several initiatives that serve to strengthen that relationship.

In May the MLC OGU organises morning tea for the parents of girls taking the Scholarship Test at MLC and arranges drinks for the girls during their break. With this activity, Old Girls provide an important link between the future and the past for potential new students and parents. Old Girls, particularly those with students at MLC in Year 6, are invited to help for a short time if possible.

In September the Old Girls’ Union provides a Chocolate Indulgence Lunch for the girls as ‘a little therapy’ before they settle down to the very serious end of study leading up to the HSC and IB examinations. Chocolate cakes, muffins, crackles, slices, mars bars, and freddos, overflowed from each girl’s plate as Year 12 gathered on the Chapel Lawn for last group photos with very chocolate faces.

Please continue to check the MLC School Community and Public websites for information regarding OGU activities.

OGU Cocktail Party for Young 'Old Girls'

In February former students from the cohort years 2004-2007 enjoyed twilight cocktails and canapes hosted by the OGU in The Independent learning Centre. The girls reconnected with each other and members of staff about the paths they had taken since leaving MLC , travel experiences and career opportunities. It was also an opportunity to hear more about the OGU and what initiatives our younger Old Girls can take to foster and maintain their ties with the school.
