Sapphires' Luncheon for our pre 1950 leavers

A sapphire is a precious gem, highly regarded for its brilliance, stability and strength. In the same way, MLC values the contribution of its pre-1950 leavers, our MLC Sapphires - a name which of course also links to 'the School's Blues.

The Sapphires' Reunion is an annual event hosted at MLC.   The Sapphires will next meet in 2009.   Invitations are sent approximately six weeks prior to the event and the dates are published in Lucis. However to register your interest in this event or to clarify transport arrangements, please contact Mrs Yvonne Kaloterakis on 8741 3146 or ykaloterakis@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au

Sapphires 2008

A sapphire is a precious gem, strong, resilient and a vibrant blue colour (MLC blue of course!). What better way to describe our much loved and admired former students who attended MLC prior to 1952.

Our Sapphires Luncheon is hosted by the Old Girls Union to celebrate the resilience and contribution made by these very special daughters of the light. This year was no exception as the ladies were ‘welcomed home’ by our Year 8 leadership team representatives.

Some were even lucky enough to make the journey on the school bus ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy this special day. Aside from a few tears during the singing of the school song, laughter and many mischievous tales by former boarders and day girls alike filled the room in true MLC spirit. As one Year 8 student observed and listened to many wonderful memories involving times gone by she exclaimed, “We can’t wait two years to see these wonderful women again!” Our Sapphires agree!
