In 2003, MLC School won the APRA and AMC NSW State and National Awards for The Most Distinguished Contribution to the Advancement of Music in Education by an Organisation. The judges commented on the School's outstanding support, promotion and presentation of Australian composition and young composers to a new audience across a period of a decade.

Also in 2003 MLC won The Orchestras of Australia Network (TOAN) Award for the Best School Orchestra Program in Australia.

In 2005, MLC School was nominated in the category of 'Oustanding Contribution to Australian Music by an Organisation' for the 2004 Scandinavian Tour.

MLC School offers instrumental music lessons in over twenty instruments to both current MLC students and external students. Lessons are conducted by fully qualified, professional musicians. Private tuition is also offered in voice, musicianship and composition. MLC has a supply of instruments available for hire. Learning an Instrument at MLC is a very social experience as students are involved in ensemble work as a part of the instrumental program. Students perform in studio concerts and are a part of group lesson situations as well as attending individual tuition.Wonderful performance opportunities are available every year in the Sydney Town Hall and biennially at the Sydney Opera House.
