Tara Wilkie has broken through for her first senior all-around title at the Australian Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne.

The Year 11 student from NSW, on the comeback trail from surgery last year, turned in an almost flawless display at Hisense Arena.

She started strongly in her first routine and didn't look back, winning with a total of 61.050.

Her NSW teammate and five-time champion Danielle Prince kept the pressure on, taking silver in a reversal of their roles in recent years. A humble Wilkie said the Rio Olympian had been a huge influence.

"She is an amazing gymnast; she's achieved so much in her career ... I look up to her and since she moved down to NSW I think that gave me a bit of a push as well," Wilkie said.

"I now know that I have to keep training really hard, even through tough times. So being able to take this win, finally, I'm over the moon."

Enid Sung claimed bronze to make it a clean sweep for NSW to go with the team gold the Sky Blues won with a score of 174.550 ahead of Queensland (144.700) and Victoria (132.900).

The three individual medallists teamed up with Vera Chalneva, Michaela Whitehouse and Alexandra Eedle to take gold.
