About MLC School
MLC School offers a rich, well rounded education program that reflects our deeply held belief that all students have special gifts, talents and needs. It enacts our commitment as educators to bring out these gifts in each and every one of our students; to help each student find her own voice.
With an in-depth knowledge of how girls learn best, the School is dedicated to creating a nurturing and enjoyable environment for our girls to adopt an intelligent and critical mindset.
Our academic staff and powerful teaching programs stimulate our students to be critical thinkers, to engage in learning and enquiry from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, to help to unlock the potential in every child.
The School’s long term commitment has always been to empower our girls and young women to be fearless thinkers, to make a difference in the world and live with purpose.
At MLC School harnessing the talents of others is what leadership is all about. It is part of what fearless thinking looks like day to day. Here at MLC School leadership is born of compassion.
We know however that leadership is a coat of many colours and so we look to create opportunities wherever we can to allow each girl at key points in her unique development to lead, from the Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, from the smallest initiative to the greatest challenges, and everything in between.
For this to happen each girl must be known and this is our highest priority.
We are proud of our culturally and ethnically diverse student population, and honour the identity of every girl, acknowledging that her story contributes to our shared identity.
In a strong, diverse and close knit school community, our girls and young women have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities from music ensembles, visual art camps and excursions to sporting teams and special interest activities and clubs, including debating and public speaking.
The camaraderie and excitement that builds through these activities is palpable. Students also have the opportunity to be part of exchange programs locally and internationally. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about the MLC School educational philosophy.
Since 1886, the School has been dedicated to championing girls education; encouraging girls to be confident and to feel secure in their belonging to this rich community of learners. The long list of outstanding professional and life achievements by our former students is testament to this commitment.
In the words of 2013 Vice Captain Emma Williams:
At MLC School the teachers encourage the girls to strive beyond the syllabus. I have developed this drive and love of learning. I think the School performed well because all the girls supported each other – it was a great ride. If one student is motivated then it tends to motivate everyone else.
